Excursion With Students from IES El Paso:
What a delight it was for me to go on excursion all day with students!
We went to Fuencaliente then stopped in Montes de Luna where the
teachers picked up some typical cookies, Almendrados for all to enjoy.
The students were very well behaved and practiced their English (for the
most part) while hiking down to our end goal - the beach! We went down
from Montes de Luna stopped and had lunch after strolling down for about
an hour. Our lunch spot was near ancient caves and we saw aboriginal
inscriptions in barranco hondo. After lunch we continued down a steep
cliff and much like the goats that live in the area we carefully climbed
down the intimidating cliff to boca barranco. Finally after more steep
goat walk we arrived at “El poris de Tigalate” where we learned that
“chochos” are treated in sea water to make them less bitter and more
edible. Finally, after walking through lava rocky landscape, much to
everyone's relief and pleasure we arrived to “El rio muerto” and to the
appropriately named “Playa de Los roquitos”. Forty or so students
bravely and uninhibitedly swam from one beach to another against
breaking waves and deep waters and jumped from overhangings playfully
egging each other on and splashing the teacher with their fearless
dives. It was a well deserved day and thoroughly experienced and
enjoyed.
